 Self-Reliance Instructor

Job Description:

Self-Reliance Instructors deliver quality youth programming to boys and girls, ages 5 -13, using the National Camp Fire USA course curriculum guidelines. Instructors will facilitate age-appropriate classes, teaching youth subjects such as safety skills, handling peer pressure, conflict resolution, stranger danger, building positive friendships, proper nutrition and avoiding drugs & alcohol.

Courses are generally run between 3 pm and 8pm Monday through Thursday. Class locations include, but are not limited to Trenton, South Gate, Romulus, Allen Park, Flat Rock, Livonia, Eastpointe, Warren, Troy, Ferndale, Marysville, Armada, Richmond, Capac, Saline and Monroe.

Camp Fire USA Wathana Council provides all curriculum, activities and snacks to the instructor. We are looking for instructors available for thirty to sixty hours per semester.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Must enjoy working with kids.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be willing to work in a variety of locations.
  • Some college or experience working with kids preferred.
  • Understanding of and appreciation for uniqueness of children.
  • Ability to organize, plan, delegate and work with youths and adults.

Requirements:

  • Participate in Self-Reliance training
  • Minimum 18 years of age

Compensation:

  • $10.00/per hour
  • Paid preparation and training
