 Absolutely Incredible Kid Day Participant

Volunteer Description:

Absolutely Incredible Kid Day is an annual campaign that encourages adults to take a moment to recognize and give appreciation to youth. This upcoming year March, 2006 marks the 10th annual celebration of Absolutely Incredible Kid Day.

Participation in Absolutely Incredible Kid Day is simple and makes a lasting impression on a child. Camp Fire USA Wathana Council encourages parents, grandparents, teachers, neighbors, administrators, older siblings and companies to initiate a small gesture to brighten a child's day and life.

A Few Ideas of How You Can Participate:

  • Encourage Your Adults to Write Letters to Kids!
  • Write letters to children in your programs.
  • Write letters to children in local schools.
  • Write letters to children in local hospitals or shelters.
  • Encourage friends, family member or employees to write to their own children or children they know.
  • Spread the word!
  • Tell at least 2 other adults or organizations about the event.
  • Place a reminder notice or a copy of the Absolutely Incredible Kid Day flier in your publications.
  • Post the event on bulletin boards.
  • Post the event on your Intranet Site or e-mail employees, organization members, etc.
  • Other Fun Ideas!
  • Host an informational/letter writing table at a post office, grocery store, company lobby, etc.
  • Take a 10-Minute time out from a staff meeting to encourage participation in AIKD.
  • Host a child appreciation spaghetti dinner.
  • Take a child out to dinner and spend quality time with them.
  • Plan a surprise pizza party for a school classroom, children's hospital or homeless shelter.
  • Create a decorative "mail box" or display to encourage participation.
  • Create an Absolutely Incredible message for kids and deliver it to them on a cake.
  • Set up a letter-writing booth for your employees.
  • Create a giant card & invite all your employees or organization members to write an encouraging message.
  • Arrange a name tree ­ so all the youth in your school, church or program receive a letter or card.
  • Hand out Absolutely Incredible Kid Certificates to children.
  • Leave a special note in a child's lunch bag,.

Absolutely Incredible Kid Day is an opportunity to help children understand how important, valued and loved they are. Many times children are taken for granted and forgotten due to busy schedules ­ helping Camp Fire USA promote Absolutely Incredible Kid Day makes a positive and lasting impression on youth as they grow and develop.

Desire to help youth feel valued and important

Term/Time Commitment:

Determined by the volunteer. Average 2 - 8 hours per month.
