Get Involved!

Volunteer and staff positions are available at all of the Camp Fire USA Wathana Council locations. These locations include the Southfield and Monroe offices, Camp Wathana in Holly, and various community locations throughout the 9 county area of Southeastern Michigan and Northwestern Ohio that we serve.

Self Reliance Instructor part-time staff
Individuals deliver youth programming using Camp Fire USA curriculum to boys and girls, ages 5 - 13. Some of the topics for Self Reliance classes include safety skills, handling peer pressure, and conflict reslution.

Club Leader volunteer
Individuals work with youth, ages 5 - 18, in small groups using Camp Fire USA curriculum. Clubs can participate in a variety of activities such as sports and games, science, community service, business, drama, outdoor camping, and others.

Camp Wathana - clean up volunteer
Individuals or groups can assist with projects at our 260 acres wooded campground in Holly, Michigan. Projects may include painting, cabin roofing, cabin repair, landscaping, or getting the camp ready for summer operations.

General office work volunteer
Individuals can assist in performing tasks at the Southfield and Monroe offices. The work could include, but it not limited to database entry, filing, answering the telephone, sorting mail, and taking inventory of program supplies.

Summer Day Camp volunteer
Individuals work hands-on with children to deliver quality summer programming to the youth. A sample of what the day camp programs include are arts & crafts, cultural diversity, team building, and environmental discovery.

Absolutely Incredible Kid Day participant volunteer
Celebrate the children in your life on Absolutely Incredible Kid Day. Upcoming dates are March 20, 2008, March 19, 2009, and March 18, 2010. You can help in a variety of ways from writing letters to children, to promoting the event, to developing your own ways to recognize children and make them feel special.

Committee members volunteer
Individuals provide assistance in guiding the programs, processes and results of the Wathana Council activities. Committees include: Programs, Property Management, Fundraising, Marketing, Finance, Technology, and Board Development.

Board of Directors volunteer
Individuals can help in setting the direction of the Wathana Council and working to ensure an internally stable, financially strong and well recognized organization continues to grow to meet the needs of youth in our communities.
